Be Safe, Be Bright, Be Seen

We all hate it when you wake up in the morning ready for work, preparing to take the kids to school and it’s still dark outside, and as the cold winter nights start to draw in earlier, keeping yourself and your children visible to road users is an important consideration.

Be Bright, Be Seen is a campaign devised by Direct Gov to educate children on the importance of road safety and specifically keeping yourself visible at this time of year when the days are duller and the light draws in earlier. A special website entitled ‘Tales Of The Road,’ aimed at 6-11 year olds aims to educate through the use of fun games and real life stories of children who have suffered at the hands of motorists. They even have great competitions every month, which encourage children to write their own poetry on road safety for the chance to win some fantastic prizes. Within the website three top tips for kids are highlighted:

Dress Brightly

Wear Reflective Gear

Customise Your Back Packs (with bright colours and reflective items)

Although the campaign is directed at children, there are key points of advice that can be taken on board by older all, including parents, as statistics show that rider and motorist failure to 'look properly,' was the most frequently reported contributory factor (38%) of all accidents reported to the police in 2009, (http://www.dft.gov.uk) hammering home how important it is to make yourself seen.

Tippitoes understand the importance of road safety and have been considering this when designing products, creating a range of ‘Max Viz’ products which have been specifically designed to ensure maximum visibility for you and your little ones. Whether you are accompanying the children to school or just going for a leisurely stroll with Baby, the Max Viz ranges’ bright colours and reflectors, help to provide safety and style all in one.

So on that note, we hope that you all have lots of fun in the festive season, but don’t forget ‘Be Bright, Be Seen!’
